The Ambassador is the highest representative of Spain in the U.K. Appointed by the Spanish Council of Ministers, he is responsible for the work carried out in all the offices affiliated with the Embassy. In addition, he keeps the Spanish Government informed of the development of events in the U.K., he negotiates on behalf of Spain, can sign or ratify agreements, observes the development of bilateral relations in all areas and guarantees the protection of Spanish interests and those of her citizens in the U.K.
Carles Casajuana i Palet was appointed Ambassador of Spain to the U.K. and Northern Ireland by the Spanish Council of Ministers on 4 July 2008. The Royal Decree declaring his appointment was published in the Official State Bulletin no.162 on 5 July 2008 and he presented his Letters of Credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain before the Court of St James to her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II on 28 October 2008.
