Spain and the European Union

 Spain and the European Union

The European Union is an organization open to the world. It was founded on the common values of freedom, democracy, rule of law, and respect for human rights. Its strategic objectives include the creation of a stable, united Europe, with a unique voice on the international stage.

The EU’s responsibilities and influence in the world continue to grow with its economic, commercial, and diplomatic importance: It is the top trade power in the world, it has a reference currency, and it is the foremost donor of humanitarian aid.

European integration is especially important to Spain, both as an essential element of its foreign policy and as a synonym for greater prosperity and security for all citizens
