01/02/2010. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, is undertaking a tour of the Near East from 1 to 3 February, during which he will visit: Israel, the Palestinian Territories and Syria.
The tour starts on Monday in Tel Aviv where he is to meet his counterpart, Avigdor Lieberman. On Tuesday he will travel to the West Bank, where he is to meet with his Palestinian counterpart, Riyad al Malky, and the Prime Minister of the Palestine National Authority (PNA), Salam Fayad.
During his stay in the West Bank, the Foreign Affairs Minister will be attending the Annual Herzliya Conference, where he will discuss the EU's role on the world stage and in the Near East.
He is scheduled to complete his tour on Wednesday with a visit to Damascus for a meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Walid al Mualem, and with the President, Bachar al Asad.
